Delivering to Hospitals & Sensitive Locations
Can flowers be delivered to a hospital?
Flower policies vary widely between hospitals, wards, and even individual rooms. Many general wards welcome floral arrangements, while intensive-care units (ICUs), transplant units, and certain allergy or immunocompromised wards often restrict or prohibit fresh flowers entirely. We strongly recommend contacting the hospital directly before placing your order to confirm whether flowers are permitted in the specific ward or room you have in mind.
How do I confirm ward access before ordering?
Please take these steps before placing a hospital delivery order:
- Call the hospital's main switchboard or the relevant ward and ask whether fresh flowers are allowed.
- Check the hospital's website — many publish visitor and gift guidelines online.
- If the patient's condition is serious or they are in a specialist unit, check with their attending nurse or doctor.
Once you have confirmed access, you're welcome to browse our Get Well Soon collection for arrangements suited to a recovery setting.
What recipient details do I need to provide?
To help our delivery team locate the right person, please include the following in your order notes:
- Full name of the patient or recipient
- Hospital name and full address
- Ward name or number (if known)
- Room or bed number (if known)
- A contact phone number for the recipient or a relative who can assist
Will the flowers be delivered to the patient's room or reception?
Delivery arrangements differ by hospital. In most cases, our courier will hand the order to the hospital's main reception or nursing station, and hospital staff will then deliver it to the patient. Direct room delivery is not always possible. If you need the arrangement delivered at a specific time, please call us in advance so we can do our best to accommodate the request.
What if flowers are not allowed?
If fresh flowers are restricted at the destination, consider one of these alternatives:
- Potted plants – many hospitals accept low-pollen, non-fragrant potted plants such as succulents.
- Dried or artificial floral arrangements – a lasting keepsake with no pollen concerns.
- Gift hampers – chocolates, fruit, or other treats are usually welcome and equally thoughtful.
Contact us before placing your order and we will help you choose the most suitable option for the situation.
Are there other sensitive locations where delivery may be restricted?
Similar restrictions can apply at care homes, rehabilitation centres, and certain workplaces. As with hospitals, we recommend checking with the venue beforehand. Provide as much detail as possible in your order notes, and our team will do their best to ensure a smooth delivery.
